EXPERIENCE

Jul 96 – Mar 01 Senior Network Engineer, Long Distance Infrastructure, MCI Worldcom

Sole Engineer responsible for Third Level Technical Support (Tier III) of MCI/Federal Aviation Administration Leased Inter-facility National Air Space Communications System (LINCS) Network, one of the largest and best performing networks in the private industry. Maintained network availability of 100% and circuit availability of 99.999% through equipment engineering support. Acted as vendor liaison for various pieces of telecommunications equipment. Responsible for lab testing and deployment of new and fix loads for telecommunications equipment and network management systems. Developed diverse technical procedures for different applications. Developed network designs for different communications needs. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various pieces of telecommunications equipment within MCIWorldcom. Acted as Team Leader of the "VEST" TQM (CFM) team, developing special equipment tracking procedures used within the company. Consultant for Avantel (Mexico) and Embratel (Brazil) Networks to improve performance and availability. Awarded "Star Performers in Operations and Technology" two times, along with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Transportation (FAA).

Jun 94 - Jul 96 Lead Engineer, Data Communications and Systems Applications, MCI

Led a team of Second Level (Tier II) engineers in support of the MCI/FAA LINCS, NASDAQ, and the Virtual Integrated Services Networks platforms. Performed maintenance activities, developed procedures for routine maintenance activities and coordinated scheduled and unscheduled emergency maintenance. Developed and led training classes for NOC Engineers. Ensured and oversaw quality technical support for over 60 data test engineers and hundreds of field technicians nationwide. Received "Network All-stars" award for network restoration activities. Nominated for "Network Hero" for ad-hoc restoration of the LINCS Network after a major power outage.

May 84 - Jun 94 Lead Technician, Network Operations, MCI

Responsible for the overall performance and availability of MCI’s Network for a one state area, including all maintenance of WANs, telephone systems, installations, and dispatches. Maintained 16 different sites and acted as Pre and Post Sales Technical Consultant of a Sales General Business Branch Office. Performed installations of diverse customer telecommunications equipment and testing of telecommunications services from customer locations. Maintained company vehicle, testing equipment and spares inventories for responsible area. Received Executive Club Award in 1990 for support of major National Account. Nominated for "Excellence in Service" award 3 times.

 
Jan 81 - May 84 Lead Technician, Network Operations, MCI

Responsible for installation activities and training for multiple facilities within a large metro area. Led a staff of 11 people supporting all customer installations. Acted as an engineering consultant for MCI’s Circuit Coordination Department (ordering and engineering of circuit applications). Developed a comprehensive training program for new hires. Developed and taught a Telecommunications Technology credit course (Bachelor Degree Program) for the Capitol Institute of Technology.

Dec 79 - Jan 81 Control Center Technician, National Control Center, MCI Telecommunications

Technician responsible for circuit quality assurance and impairment testing for entire MCI Network. Dispatched technicians nationwide while responding to
large account customer calls. Acted as a consultant for the general business customer calling help desk, supporting nationwide issues.

Sep 76 - Oct 79 Communications Specialist, United States Army

Maintained communications equipment and circuits in a large overseas Department of Defense communications Pacific Rim Hub Site. Led a team of 4 people to support the Performance Monitoring Program. Acted as shift supervisor for Primary Technical Control Facility. Received numerous awards, including Honor Graduate of Primary Technical Control School . Selected to maintain Presidential Communications for the "Hot Line" to Moscow, along with various joint forces exercises.
